Staffing Support

OPHI provides staffing support for public health, health system, and related partners advancing equity and access to services for communities. From community health workers to communicable disease case investigators, epidemiologists and data analysts, we have recruited, hired, trained, and managed over 500 diverse employees serving communities in three states. We provide short- and long-term staffing solutions for non-clinical roles and specialize in hiring local staff who reflect the communities they serve.

Health Workforce Development

OPHI builds and diversifies the health workforce by providing training for current professionals, engagement and hands-on learning for prospective health professionals, and development of recruitment and retention strategies. In our staffing support projects, we partner with clients to create opportunities to bring new and emerging public health professionals into the workforce.

Public Health System Partner Engagement and Collaboration

We align partners, goals, and equity impact by connecting essential components of the health system: community-based organizations, local public health jurisdictions, state agencies, academia, cross-sector partners and more. Depending on the needs of the initiative, OPHI serves as a convener, facilitator, connector, or thought partner.

Re-Granting, Contract Administration, and Capacity-Building

OPHI partners with public and private funders to efficiently direct resources to communities building health equity in Oregon and beyond. As part of Public Health Institute, we have the financial, operations, and compliance infrastructure to successfully serve as a funding intermediary throughout the entire award cycle. Our approach reduces the administrative burden of grant administration for funders while emphasizing partnership, equity, and award compliance. If desired, OPHI can also build grantee capacity through training, technical assistance, and grant monitoring support to grantees.

Partnership in Funding Applications, Program Implementation, and Project Incubation

OPHI partners with organizations, researchers, coalitions, and projects seeking federal, state, local, and other funding. Through our partnership with Public Health Institute, we also serve as an administrative "home" for funded projects, extending our strong organizational infrastructure to ensure impact, stability, and award compliance.

Training, Technical Assistance, and Consulting

OPHI staff provide training, technical assistance, and consulting to organizations, coalitions, government agencies, health systems, and other partners. Topics and services include community engagement; needs assessments; equity-focused partnership development; strategic and sustainability planning; engagement of community health workers and other traditional health workers; partner convenings and facilitation, and more.
